WE ARE

We are Last Legs Dance Theatre. Our work combines Contemporary Dance, Improvisation, Comedy and Music to produce Theatrical Productions. As mature dancers, we use our experience within Theatre to convey stories and themes that inspire our creativity. Our performances offer an alternative perspective on relevant subjects, expanding concepts that are both engaging and educational to audiences.

Marie-Louise Flexen

Co Director/Producer

Peter Anderson trained at the Rambert School of Ballet and Contemporary Dance and spent 20 years dancing professionally in a number of Contemporary Dance companies throughout Europe. His choreography has toured internationally and he has been a guest lecturer for creative thinking in universities and businesses. He was the founder of Watch My Back comedy improvisation group and produced the comedy series 'Saman Gaman' for Icelandic TV.

He has created dance films which have been screened at dance festivals across Scandinavia and the UK. 

Marie-Louise is co-director and producer of Last Legs Dance Theatre. She is an experienced professional dance artist, performer & award-winning choreographer with 25 years’ experience, working extensively with renowned dance makers & theatre directors.

 

Marie-Louise received a Dance UK Award for Inspiring Leader of The Future in 2015. She was a finalist in the major contemporary choreography award The Place Prize in 2005, and nominated for a Total Theatre Award 2007. Between 2004 – 2014, she created many Arts Council funded projects & commissions for a range of exciting collaborations, as well as productions of her own.

Chioma Uma graduated from Rose Bruford College with a degree in Actor Musicianship. She made her first professional onstage debut as ‘Hattie’ in Kiss Me Kate! at The Watermill Theatre (2019) and returned to perform as ‘Tom of Warwick’ in their concert rendition of ‘Camelot’ this summer. In 2019, she also had her first leading role playing Cinderella in ‘Cinderella The Rockin’ Panto!’.

 

Additionally, Chioma has composed and musically directed for theatre in the past, co-commissioned to compose for Ockham’s Razor’s last show, This Time (2019).

Louise studied at the Royal College of Music in London. She was the Principal Oboe of Orquesta do Norte, Portugal, a chamber orchestra in the north of Portugal under the baton of Ferreira Lobo. She held this position for two years until being invited, at the age of only 26, to take the Principal Oboe position of the State of Mexico Symphony Orchestra in Toluca, Mexico under Maestro Batiz.

 

After five years of touring as well as weekly TV and radio broadcasts, Louise returned to the UK as a freelance Oboist, performing as guest Principal with orchestras such as the Royal Scottish National Orchestra, Royal Ballet Sinfonia, Orchestra of the Swan and many others.

Louise also has another ‘string to her bow’ being a Holistic Therapist and Energy Healer.
